Dr Amitav Banerjee is currently Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine at Dr D Y Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pune.

Served in Indian Armed Forces from 1978 to 2005. Was Heading the Armed Forces Surveillance and Mobile Epidemic Investigation team from 2000 to 2004 during which period investigated a number of outbreaks in different parts of the country such as Tribal Malaria in Central India, Hepatitis E, Enteric Fever, Food Poisoning, Rubella, Pneumococcal Pneumonia, etc. Has published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed National and International Journals & Awarded Publons Peer Review Award 2017 and also in 2018 as one of the top 1% reviewers medical journals globally.
